My journey becoming a Unity game developer: Make a game look beautiful-Create a wall over the doorway
Objective: Create a wall over the doorway to the Control Room towards the ceiling with variation.
Let’s add a wall over the doorway to the Control Room. To begin, grab Scifi Walls 09 object and place it over the middle part of the doorway. Duplicate this wall twice, connect it to each side of the middle wall, and position these walls directly on top of the doorway with Local space turned on in the menu. Make sure the painted stripes are visible over the doorway.
Duplicate all 3 walls, drag the duplicates above the original walls and connect them to the ceiling.
We noticed the struts are interfering with the new wall above the doorway. Therefore, select both struts and columns attached to each other and position them one wall tile over closest to the walls near them.
We’re going to add variation to the new wall by adding a couple of assets to it. Let’s start with adding Scifi Walls Base 01 to the top side of one wall. Duplicate Scifi Walls Base 01 object, and drag this duplicate over to the other top side of the wall.
Then, select Scifi Columns 02 located on each side of the doorway, and duplicate them. Drag them above to be positioned on each side the wall. Rotate the painted stripe to face forward.
Last thing with this wall is to organize its assets. Select the lower middle wall tile and create a new Empty game object name Ceiling Over Door. Unparent the Ceiling Over Door object, and select all objects that makes up the new wall created. Drag them into their new parent object Ceiling Over Door. Make sure to place the Ceiling Over Door object under the Ceilings object.
