My journey becoming a Unity game developer: Make a game look beautiful-Creating Ceilings pt.2
Objective: Create a ceiling for the Main Room using the Main Floor as the foundation for it. Also, added variation to the ceiling with a couple of extra assets included.
To create the Main Ceiling, we will use the floor in the Main Room as this will be a perfect fit. Select all the tiles that make up the Main Floor and duplicate them. Before we do anything else with these duplicated tiles, let’s move all of these tiles outside of the Floors object which is located inside of the Static object. Now we can move the new Main Ceiling objects up, position it at the top of the room, and rotate the floor to have the main part facing downward in the room.
To work inside the room clearly, you can disable the Floors game object in the Inspector for the time being. We need to make some changes to the ceiling for variation from the floor. Select the single black tile in the middle of the yellow tiles and delete it. Duplicate the yellow tile with the painted corners and position it where the black tile was deleted to keep the pattern of the yellow tiles.
To add more variety to the ceiling, let’s use another game object for more depth. Using Scifi Walls 05, drag it onto a tile in one corner and position it with the pipes nearest to the wall.
Duplicate Scifi Walls 05 objects across the ceiling until it reaches the other end.
To add a little more variation to the ceiling, drag in Scifi Walls 07 and position it in one corner on the short length side of the room. Duplicate this object and position them across this side of the ceiling.
With all of the Scifi Walls 07 objects selected, make sure to position the painted stripe above the black pipes against the wall, and rotate them with the painted stripe farthest away from the wall.
Duplicate the selected Scifi Walls 07 objects, position them over to the other side of the room making sure to rotate the painted stripe farthest away from the wall.
Select all of the Scifi Walls 05 objects, duplicate and position them on the opposite side of the room making sure to rotate the pipes to be nearest to the wall.
